Who Are Seventh-day Adventists? A brief scan of one of the fastest growing
Christian Churches in the world today The Seventh-day Adventist Church adds a new member by baptism every 48 seconds of every day, and organizes five new congregations daily. God
Adventists base their faith in God as revealed through Jesus Christ and as shown through the Bible, inspired by the Holy Spirit. Faith
Faith means placing complete trust in God, and accepting his offer of salvation. Such trusting faith is fundamental to Adventist beliefs. A living relationship with God is essential to faith. The Bible
The Gospel
Creation
Creator of the Universe, Christ formed our world in seven days, and created the first man and woman. At the close of his creative work, God gave the Sabbath as a day of celebration and worship. The Sabbath
The seventh-day Sabbath (Saturday) is given as a reminder of the God who both creates and saves, and is the day God invites all to come and worship him. Jesus observed the seventh-day Sabbath while on earth, and Adventists follow his example in keeping the fourth of the Ten Commandments. The Second Advent
Adventists look forward to the soon return of Jesus Christ as prophesied and as he himself promised, but do not set any date for this glorious event when he comes to take home all who accept him as their Lord.

Although Seventh-Day Adventism espouses basic Christian doctrinesbelief in the Trinity, the virgin birth and Resurrection of Christ, the Bible as the word of Godand is considered by some "main line" Christians to be simply another Protestant denomination, it is distinguished by a number of points that justify its classification as a cult. The word "adventist" derives from the Latin, adventus -"coming"and refers to those groups that not only expect the imminent return of Christ, but have at different times tried to predict the years and even the day of this returnin spite of the Lord's warning: But of that day and hour known to no man, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only (Matt. 24:36). Although "adventism" is now a familiar theme among many Protestant groups, particularly those that come under the "Pentecostal" umbrella, the Adventist movement originated in the 19th century on the basis of attempts to make precise predictions about the Second Coming. Adventistsand there are several groups in addition to the Seventh-Day Adventists originated with William Miller, a farmer who was born in Massachusetts shortly after the American Revolution. Although he lost his faith in God as a teenager, he came to believe once again at the age of 37, returning to the Baptist faith of his parents following a time of intense study of the Bible.

    Seventh-day Adventists
In our last article on the Seventh-day Adventists, we discussed the "Sanctuary Doctrine". Basically this doctrine of the atonement states "
    (1) Christ who lived "in blameless obedience to His own eternal law of righteousness offered up a complete perfect, and all-sufficient sacrifice for the sins of men " (A.S. Maxwell, Your Friend the Adventist, p. 19). This was not the atonement, however; for, say the Adventists, "we disssent from the view that the atonement was made upon the cross" (Fundamental Principles, p.2)
    (2) in 1844 "attended by heavenly angels, our great High Priest entered the Holy of Holies... to there make atonement for all who are shown to be entitled to his benefits" (Ellen G. White, The Great Controversy, p. 308)
    (3) "Before He (Christ) takes His Throne as King, He will make the great atonement.. and their sins will be blotted out "The completion of the atonement comes when Christ, emerging from the Holy of Holies, lays the sins of those who have not been found to be true believers upon Azel (or Satan), who carries away the sins of the world into the wilderness."
For further information on this unorthodox doctrine see, `The Teachings of Seventh-Day Adventism' by John H. Gerstner, pp. 18,19, where the above information was obtained.

    - This link will take you to the theological part of the site, defending the music itself (Christian rock) directly from Scripture. Although a lot of this site is specific to Seventh Day Adventists, this chapter can apply to and be used by all denominations as a reference and a study guide. Other musical styles and instruments themselves are defended below. More will always be added. Chapter 2 - My personal testimony of how God brought me through secular music, alcohol, depression, and the part Christian rock played in all of that. Chapter 3 - Here is a true and ongoing account concerning worship and praise music (hymns etc.) in a church setting. This is a true story and there has been some debate regarding the necessity of this kind of information. However, due to the nature of the situation I believe it can be very helpful to those out there who feel they are alone and that nobody can relate to their situation and/or maybe they are even starting to question their own God given talents as being scripturally sound. That is why I find that the internet is such a great tool and a resource for some of life's most difficult questions because it obliterates the boundaries of communication and distance. I have made NO attempt to name names or the church name, or even church titles for that matter. I do have a forum for this as well as any information on the whole site and welcome any corrections or maybe even their account of the situation. I am rewriting the whole situation keeping this text in mind

    Seventh-Day Adventists
    in Science Fiction
This annotated bibliography list, a subset derived from the Adherents.com Religion in Literature database, is intended as a resource for literary research. It lists mainstream science fiction novels or short stories which contain references to the Seventh-Day Adventists. It is not necessarily a comprehensive list of such literature, but all Hugo- and Nebula-winning novels have been indexed, as have many other major works. This is a surprisingly short list. Seventh-day Adventists form one of the ten largest international churches in the world. They have distinctive history, culture, doctrine and literature which could certainly provide subject matter for fiction. Seventh-day Adventists are often well-educated as well as devoutly and alternatively religious. They would make interesting characters in any form of fiction. Yet the SDA Church and its members are rarely mentioned in science fiction, fantasy, or any other genre. Among all novels which have won the Hugo or Nebula award, only one (Sawyer's The Terminal Experiment ) was found to mention Seventh-Day Adventists. Contrast this with the fact that 25% of Hugo- and Nebula-winning novels contain references to Latter-day Saints (who have about the same number of members worldwide) and 9% (6 different novels) mention Christian Scientists, a group roughly twenty times smaller.

Seventh-Day Adventists Seventh-day Adventists accept the Bible as their only creed and hold certain fundamental beliefs to be the teaching of the Holy Scriptures. These beliefs, as set forth here, constitute the church's understanding and expression of the teaching of Scripture. Revision of these statements may be expected at a General Conference session when the church is led by the Holy Spirit to a fuller understanding of Bible truth or finds better language in which to express the teachings of God's Holy Word. Beliefs
  • The Holy Scriptures : The Holy Scriptures, Old and New Testaments, are the written Word of God, given by divine inspiration through holy men of God who spoke and wrote as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. In this Word, God has committed to man the knowledge necessary for salvation. The Holy Scriptures are the infallible revelation of His will. They are the standard of character, the test of experience, the authoritative revealer of doctrines, and the trustworthy record of God's acts in history. The 3 REAL REASONS why seventhday adventists keep the Sabbath. Adventistsare unaware that their founder, made a trip to heaven
    http://www.bible.ca/7-White-halo.htm
The 3 REAL REASONS why Seventh-day Adventists keep the Sabbath. Adventists are unaware that their founder, made a trip to heaven, and only then, did she learn that the Sabbath was not abolished. (In spite of what Col 2:14-16 says!) In fact Adventists must swear to accept Ellen White as an inspired prophet at their baptism or they can’t even become a member of the Seventh-day Adventist church! Further, Adventists actually borrowed the practice of Sabbath keeping from the Seventh-day Baptists. Only then did Ellen White get her inspired vision! So you see, no matter what the Bibles about the Sabbath being nailed to the cross, Adventists won't believe what the Bible says if it contradicts their inspired prophet Ellen G. White. Ellen G. White was a false prophet: Colossians 2:18 "Let no one keep defrauding you of your prize by... taking his (her) stand on visions he (she) has seen inflated without cause by his (Ellen White's) fleshly mind" REASON #1: They must vow Ellen G. White as an inspired prophet at their baptism! Official SDA Baptismal Vows: Vow #8: "I accept the Biblical teaching of spiritual gifts, and believe that the gift of prophecy is one of the identifying marks of the remnant church."
