KELD-IN-SWALEDALE UNITED REFORMED CHURCH Keld is a tiny village at the top of Swaledale in North Yorkshire. Swaledale is within the Yorkshire Dales National Park, and an increasingly popular destination for holiday visitors. Our church building is in the bottom of the village, set within its own churchyard. It is near where a short path leads to the Pennine Way and the Coast to Coast long-distance footpath. Many visitors to Keld arrive on foot. A Wainwright in his famous Walking Guides describes Keld and our chapel: The little cluster of stone buildings at Keld, tidily yet haphazardly arranged along its only 'street', is attractively situated on a headland overlooking the Swale. Little has changed here for generations past and proud dates and names of proud men adorn the doorways and walls and even the chapel belfry: a sundial measures the hours but time is measured in centuries at Keld. Worship is held on alternate Sundays, at 9.00am in summer and 2.00pm in winter. (There is also a Methodist Church in Keld. On the other Sundays worship is held there at 2.00pm.)
