The Galactic Core Gazette

"All the space news that there's space to fit news in" New Theory Rewrites Town's History
Chapman's theory concludes that the town of Smithville must have been layed out over 12,000 years ago. This flies in the face of the locally accepted history, which places the founding of the town of 2,500 at 1867 A.D.
Astronomy Website Altered!
Acting on a tip received from one of our readers, the G.C. Gazette has verified that the website of the North Funston (PA) Stargazers has recently been updated. A member of the N.F.S. had created the site for the club back in 1998, but, as reader Jan Fredrickson notes to us, the site had been poorly tended since then. "Earlier this month, the Meetings section still had programs listed from 2000", reports Fredrickson. "The Sky Calendar listed the March New Moon as being on Friday the 27th; it took me a while to determine that that date was from 1998. I'm so happy to see that the old information has finally been updated."
Fredrickson states that she hopes to now get involved with the N.F.S., since she lives in the North Funston area. The only roadblock remaining is that the website gives here no way of connecting with the club. "There is no contact information, and my e-mails to the site webmaster have gone unanswered. They only list the meeting location as "Bill's house", and I haven't the slightest idea who Bill is."

Mars Secret Revealed
Since controversy still swirls around the now famous "Face on Mars" photograph, we here at G.C. Gazette assigned our resident graphics expert Ed with the task of seeing whether he could extract any more information from the raw Mars Global Surveyor photos of the area. After extensive work in sharpening the image using sophisticated software (something he got on a disk of photos processed at K-Mart), and over twelve hours of processing time by his 386, Ed was amazed by the result which emerged, as was the rest of the staff here. We submit it to you, the reader, for you to draw your own conclusions.
