Today the sun is shining brightly, the sky is blue and I'm on top of the world. Our first grandchild, Jenna Ellen , was born three weeks ago, a perfect little beauty. Now there's a true work of art! Wishful thinking hereI haven't actually seen snowdrops blooming. I photographed these in 2002. It shouldn't be too long, though! The ground is covered with snow, which protects my bulbs and seedlings in the woods from temperatures in the single digits. They're all sleeping soundly and nothing is peeping through the snow. I know, it's weeks till Spring comes. I can hardly wait! Follow these links to read about my woodland project and to see my wildflower photographs from other locales: my woodland restoration and wildflowers Exploring Color Yahoo! WIN a FREE book or CD by playing the Treasure Hunt Game

You are creative — perhaps more creative than you dare to believe! When you explore your creativity, you open the treasure chest of your unconscious. You may be surprised and delighted by the energy and joy you find buried there. You may also be surprised and dismayed to find the dragon — your shadow self — there as well, guarding that creative treasure. Creativity is intimately tied to shadow, and this means you must learn to dance with your inner dragon so you can live the creative life you yearn for. Dancing in the Dragon’s Den will help you:
  • Discover what your shadow is
  • Recognize how your shadow is connected to your creativity
  • Figure out how you can use that shadow energy to rekindle your creative fire
Always encouraging, inspiring and down-to-earth

What Is Meant By Academic Creativity?
Academic creativity is a way of thinking about, learning, and producing information in school subjects such as science, mathematics, and history. Few experts agree on a precise definition, but when we say the word, everyone senses a similar feeling. When we are creative, we are aware of its special excitement. Creative thinking and learning involve such abilities as evaluation (especially the ability to sense problems, inconsistencies, and missing elements); divergent production (e.g., fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration); and redefinition. Creative learning is a natural, healthy human process that occurs when people become curious and excited. In contrast, learning by authority requires students to use thinking skills such as recognition, memory, and logical reasoningthe abilities most frequently assessed by traditional tests of intelligence and scholastic aptitude. Children prefer to learn in creative ways rather than just memorizing information provided by a teacher or parents. They also learn better and sometimes faster.

Creativity encompasses any field where your imagination and the choices you make along the way result in the final product - this includes almost everything, like writing down your reviews of the things you use, see or participate in, taking a photo of your dog, writing an email expressing your opinions about something, and so on....... The variations are endless and we're trying to ensure that they all get the attention they deserve. So if you feel like voluntarily contributing in any way or just having a good read, we urge you to take a closer look.

Writing Out the Storm
Contact Jessica jesswrites@juno.com Writing a life. Although I've been writing all my life and was first published when I was fifteen, I began seriously writing in my mid-thirties. I wrote freelance articles specializing in my first love, food and restaurant reviews. Before this, I had a career in the food business and owned my own catering firm in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In 1991 I moved to Portland, Oregon and began teaching writing classes at Portland Community College. I discovered that I had found my niche as a teacher it was the perfect place to work my schtick and I pass along techniques and tricks that I'd acquired. I also found that I loved motivating people and helping them face their fears and put their ideas on the page. In the mid-90's, I began writing fiction and joined a publisher as an editor and worked mostly on non-fiction manuscripts, but gradually added fiction works to my repertoire. After about three years, I began editing on my own and became a writing coach and book doctor. I wrote four booklets about writing that were published by a small Oregon publisher.

Introduction A blue gray horizon loomed outside the window of the plane as it slowly banked and turned toward the airport still miles ahead of us. The plane turned as another glow punctuated the breach between the zodiacal light and the darkness that enveloped the earth below. The glow had the yellow-white tinge of city lights reflected up from a huge urban aggregate of life, power, and activity. As we descended into the dark landscape a long tentacle of lights reached out below, stretching from that still distant aurora. More tentacles appeared below stretching in all directions. Motionless, they laid full the valleys, extended up ridge lines and spilled over crests as if to defy containment. At last the conglomerate of lights radiated below us. We sailed through the sky above it for thirty minutes or more. It was as if we were gazing down at some giant primordial sea creature that had flung itself from the ocean depths and wedged among the rolling hills to await the warming sun of morning. The sprawl below us was not what I had expected. This was not the emerald forest I had imagined, rather it was a jungle of humanity into which we descended. It was not my preconceived notion of idyllic tribal life with the local witchdoctor to show us his healing gifts. It was a world of urban shamans. Not the chic metropolitan healers suggested by the cover of Gabrielle Roth's book titled

79. Your Thoughts Are Very Powerful
Part of a book about spirituality. Chapter 4 is about creativity and has some writing exercises.

Chapter 4
Your Thoughts Are Very Powerful
Creativity
When you are young you have a wonderful imagination. In your imagination you can create anything and any situation. As you get older you lose this creative imagination. This is usually because the older people that you look up to laugh at your imaginings or make fun of your creative ideas. You can, if you are still young, decide to keep your vivid imagination and not let it deteriorate due to outside pressures. You can cultivate a fertile imagination and increase your creativity to be used as you please. All the great inventors of the world would have been nothing without the ability to imagine that their creations were possible. People with inspiration receive their inspiration from their imagination.
If you are no longer young and have already lost most of your imagination then you may find that it is difficult to regain what you have lost. However, it is not impossible and with some hard work you can remove the blocks to your creative imagination. One short cut is to work with children. When they imagine things have them describe what they imagine in great detail and then try to see them in your imagination as they are seeing them. This retrains the technique within you but the blocks that you have put up in your past have to be found and pulled down.
Here is an example - You may have said to someone, "Imagine you could fly without wings." The response was not the enthusiasm that you expected but ridicule as that person goes round everyone saying, in a mocking voice that you had said, "Imagine you could fly without wings." To avoid ridicule in the future you put up a block to your imagination. Instead of putting up the block it would have been better if you had repeated an affirmation - more on this later.
