The Petroleum Geochemistry Group at CSIRO Petroleum is focussed on reservoir geochemistry research. We also pursue research into source rocks, thermal maturity and environmental geochemistry. Typically, our applied research involves industry sponsorship and addresses specific issues relating to the exploration and appraisal activities of oil companies. We also carry out some longer term, strategic research. We are a small group organic petrographers fluid inclusion petrographers and isotope stratigraphers and also with organic geochemists from around the World. We have sophisticated and modern instrumentation in a well maintained laboratory, based in North Ryde (Sydney). Capabilities Feedback: [ Simon.George@csiro.au

Petroleum Organic Geochemistry Group (POGG)
Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, Woods Hole, MA, USA
The Petroleum Organic Geochemistry Group at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution focuses on using a variety of carbon containing compounds to understand processes which have affected petroleum basins and sediment-covered hydrothermal vent areas. A particular focus of the group is gas. Gas formation and migration processes strongly affect subsurface fluid flow which ultimately determines where and how much gas is available to drive geological processes and as an energy resource. Diagenesis and low temperature metamorphism in clastic, carbonate and volcanic rocks with special emphasis on - clay minerals - petrology - isotopic studies - organic maturation - geochemistry - fluids standards and calibration procedures This is a call for abstracts for the EUG XI meeting (Strasbourg, 8-12 April, 2001), session O 11 "Diagenesis and Low-grade Metamorphism"
This symposium is dedicated to the memories of Professors Martin Frey (Basel) and Bernhard Kübl er (Neuchatel) , two petrologists well-known for their work on diagenesis and low-grade metamorphism. Martin Frey tragically lost his life in his beloved Alpine mountains and Bernhard Kübler died having forcefully fought cancer.
The symposium will commemorate these two petrologists by bringing
together scientists working on various aspects of diagenesis and
low-grade metamorphism in sedimentary and volcanic rocks including the
oceanic crust. The symposium welcomes contributions from those
