The availability of complete genome sequences, including those of Arabidopsis (a dicot) and rice (a monocot), is streamlining genetic analysis and making feasible the goal of knowing the function of every gene. Unprecedented opportunities exist to pursue research questions and training in genetics, epigenetics, biochemistry, physiology, development, and cell biology. The Ph.D. Program in Plant Biology at Washington University enjoys a strong reputation in all of these disciplines.
