Molecular Plant Physiology Group
The Molecular Plant Physiology Group seeks to understand how particular genetic, biochemical and physiological attributes of plants and other photosynthetic organisms contribute to their fitness and performance in natural and agricultural ecosystems. Research is focussed on the acquisition of inorganic carbon from the atmosphere, and its use for growth. There is an emphasis on understanding how basic photosynthetic mechanisms limit the efficiency of plant growth. An important long-term goal is to identify genetic information that might be incorporated into crop species to improve their performance in the atmospheric and agricultural environments of the future. John C. McDermott
PhD (Dalhousie)
Research Areas: Animal Biology/ Physiology, Cell-Signaling, Molecular Biology Graduate studies in Biology at York University are firmly based in research. Those courses which are required are designed to enhance the awareness of current research in various fields of biology or to bring students' knowledge to the latest state of the art in their area of interest. The research interests of the faculty are concentrated in a limited number of areas, namely:
Animal Biology / Physiology, Cell Biology, Ecology and Population Biology, Evolutionary Biology, Genetics, Molecular Biology and Biochemistry, and Plant Physiology.
The Programme is rigorous and demanding while maintaining an informal and friendly atmosphere. It is easy to get to know the students and faculty, most of whom are very approachable and always willing to provide ideas and equipment and other forms of assistance to all students in the programme.
To learn more about the Graduate Programme in Biology please browse through the sections by clicking on the menu bar at the top of this page.

37. Plant Physiology Spring 2001
It is designed to provide you with comprehensive exposure to the subject of plantphysiology. TEXT L. Taiz and E. Zeiger. 1998. plant physiology. 2ded.
http://koning.ecsu.ctstateu.edu/Plant_Physiology/schedule.html
I'm Sorry, This page is temporarily unavailable due to a security breach. As soon as I can solve that "hole" I will try to put these pages back on-line
For now I recommend looking at the schedule for the previous semester
OBJECTIVES:
This course satisfies one of the 300-level course requirements for the biology major. It is designed to provide you with comprehensive exposure to the subject of plant physiology. You will learn about the structure and function of plants throughout their development from seeds through reproduction. Considerable experience in chemistry is assumed, as is recall from BIO 221 (Cell and Molecular Biology). Our discussions and exercises will cover from the biochemical level through the organismal level. The laboratory exercises will be investigative and perhaps more open-ended than you have experienced before. If you are a person who has over-specialized in zoology or human biology, this course will expand your horizons significantly. As a study of producers, this course will examine those organisms so important because of their position at the energy and elemental intake portion of the energy pyramid and the food web! Upon these organisms depends human survival. ELECTRONIC MATERIALS:
You
will find lecture notes, chapter reviews, lab exercises, old exams, and other course materials available for you "as is" on the World Wide Web at this address:
