Ulterior album update is here at last!!! At long, long last The Music Page has thrown off the shackles of the evil Spaceports and Terabyte Online Solutions. What that means for you is that the long-awaited release of the 2nd edition of the S2DF album, Ulterior, is finally upon us. Ulterior began as an EP at a low bitrate, but now it has grown a bit. There's some interesting music on it, so give it a listen.

Pipe Organs. A truly fascinating subject for the music-minded. The pipe organ is one of the most remarkable creations of the ancient world, and one of only a handful of areas where medieval Europe demonstrated both technical prowess and creative flair. References on this subject are often convoluted by the interchangability of jargon terms. Here we try to sort that out. Final draft now posted! Read on...

The Laboratory for Advanced Brain signal processing (ABSP) investigates and developstools and software for analysis (extraction, enhancement, denoising
http://www.bsp.brain.riken.go.jp/
The Laboratory for Advanced Brain Signal Processing (ABSP) investigates and develops tools and software for analysis (extraction, enhancement, de-noising, detection, localization, recognition and classification tasks) of brain signals and patterns, especially measured by high density array EEG/MEG and ERP/EMG machines.
We are interested in intelligent biomedical signal processing and nonlinear system theory approaches in computational neuroscience, with an emphasis on neural network models with underlying components (processing units) and biologically plausible learning algorithms.
MOTIVATION and OBJECTIVES:
In order to understand the higher order functioning of the brain, it is necessary to develop new methods of signal processing for brain data. On the other hand, the brain itself performs excellent information processing, by using diversified representations of information. The brain uses nonlinear parallel and complex dynamic signal processing with learning and self organization ability.
Our Laboratory focuses on two aspects of the brain signal processing, namely analysis and modeling. The first goal is to develop advanced methods for brain data analysis, especially for EEG, MEG, EMG and spatio-temporal pictorial signals from fMRI or optical recordings.

Further information from Pamela Bye Signal processing constitutes an important area for the application of mathematical concepts and techniques fuelled, for example, by recent developments in mobile communications, multimedia systems and digital TV. The last IMA conference on this subject was held in December 1996 and the intervening years have witnessed significant developments in many topics such as nonlinear/non-Gaussian signal processing, multirate signal processing, blind deconvolution/signal separation and broadband systems. The aim of this conference is to bring together mathematicians and engineers with a view to exploring recent developments and identifying fruitful avenues for further research. It is hoped that the meeting will also help to attract more mathematicians into this important and challenging field.
