Provides access to materials including including books, images and databases selected from Fish and Mammal Divisions of the University of Michigan Museum of zoology and the Fungus Collections of the University of Michigan Herbarium.
http://www.lib.umich.edu/programs/greatlakes/index.html
This web site provides access to materials selected from Fish and Mammal Divisions of the University of Michigan Museum of Zoology and the Fungus Collections of the University of Michigan Herbarium. It is a working prototype of a system that could provide integrated access to all of the Museum Divisions' collections and additional content such as field notes and other supplementary information. It is intended to facilitate access to the collections for the general user as well as the specialist interested in searching across domains. A summary of the project components is available. [go to summary of collections]
There are four searching options:
  • a collection-based interface to the image and database components that allows you to designate any single collection or group of collections to search. [go to collection search]
a map-based interface that searches all databases simultaneously by county. [go to map-based search]
a simple search across all the content in the entire project, including the books, images, and databases. [go to all content search]
a collection-based interface to the full-text fungus monograph component that allows you to designate one or more texts to search.

Interest in phylogenetic relations and in reconstructing the history of life is experiencing a dramatic renaissance, perhaps comparable only to that of the Darwinian revolution near the turn of the last century. To encourage this renaissance, Zoology strives to provide a common forum where all aspects of zoology are presented from an explicitly comparative perspective. The journal invites papers that take a comparative approach to biogeography, ecology, behavior, morphology, development, physiology, cell biology, and genetics. By providing a wide stage, Zoology intends to promote an interdisciplinary approach to the understanding of animal form, function, development, and evolution. The editors and editorial board are also committed to remaining flexible enough to adjust to the ever changing field of animal biology. Recognizing the increasing importance of rapid, effective, international communication, Zoology will offer

This site provides access to data and images in the Museum of Vertebrate Zoology collections. Data are refreshed weekly. We are constantly updating taxonomy and checking specimen identifications and associated information, but outdated names, mistaken identifications, and erroneous localities inevitably occur. We urge investigators to verify all data by direct examination of the specimens, and we appreciate notification of discrepancies. MVZ data records may be used by individual researchers or research groups, but they may not be repackaged, resold, or redistributed in any form without the express written consent of a curatorial staff member of the MVZ. If any of these records are used in an analysis or report, the provenance of the original data must be acknowledged and the MVZ notified. The Museum of Vertebrate Zoology or its staff is not responsible for damages, injury or loss due to the use of these data. Questions and comments about this site should be sent to mvz@elib.cs.berkeley.edu
