The Council has two main functions. First, it serves to foster communication and the exchange of information among the different projects, between the projects and the governance structure of CRL, and between the projects and outside organizations. Second, the Council serves as an advisory body to CRL in areas where their subject expertise is appropriate and their experience in cooperative ventures is pertinent. This might include questions as to how CRL's program fits into other initiatives nationwide, or it might entail reexamining the usefulness or importance of particular categories of material collected.
