Australian Rules Football
(Redirected from Australian rules football Australian rules football (also known as "footy" or "Aussie Rules" in areas where it is the predominant winter sport) is a game played between two teams of 18 players, usually played on cricket ovals during the winter months. At either end of the oval four posts are erected. The aim for each team is to kick the ball between either the two inner posts of one set (for a goal, worth six points) or between an outer and inner post (for a behind, worth just one point). The game is played with a bouncy oval ball which may be caught, kicked, or passed to another player by punching. A player may also run with the ball provided they either bounce or touch the ball to the ground every 15 metres. A player who cleanly catches a kicked ball that has travelled more than 15 metres with anyone else touching it (an act called "a mark") is entitled to an unimpeded kick of the ball, to advance his team towards the goal post. The game is controlled by a number of field umpires (at elite level, three), two boundary umpires whose main job is to conduct "throw-ins" when the ball leaves the field of play, and two goal umpires whose job it is to judge whether the ball is kicked between the goal posts without being touched by another(thus scoring a goal), between a goal and point post (thus a point) or outside the goals entirely (thus becoming the boundary umpire's responsibility). The goal umpires wear distinctive white coats and are equipped with two flags. After a goal is scored and indicated to the players, the goal umpire waves the two flags such that the other goal umpire sees and records the goal. One flag is waved for a point.

HOME ABOUT OUR CLUB GOBI DESERT AFL WHAT IS AUSSIE RULES?
Australian Football has a very short and currently small presence in China. Most Chinese people, or people outside Australia for that matter, have not even heard about or seen a game of Aussie Rules Football.
However, there are a small group of us 'Aussies' keen to change that and see Aussie Rules Football develop a presence in China, as well as eventually seeing China represented at the growing amount of international Australian football tournaments around the globe. With a large Australian community scattered thoughout China and rapidly increasing trade and cultural ties between China and Australia. It serves as a good opportunity to expand Aussie Rules and involve China in the future.
Anyone is most welcome to get in touch with us, or to help get involved with 'Chinese Footy'. Club Email: china_blues_afc@hotmail.com Coach - Simon Hill: simonhill72@hotmail.com

The founding club of the California australian rules football League.
http://www.lacrows.com/
Welcome to the official website of the
LA Crows Australian Football Club.
The Crows are one of the founding members of the California Australian Rules Football League , or CAFL. We, along with our brothers in the CAFL are pioneering the growth of the great game of Australian Football here in the United States. It is our mission to turn this club into the premier Aussie Football team in the United States. Off the field, the Crows show a passionate commitment to our social agenda. So if you are looking for good times both on and off the field, you have come to the right place. WHAT IS AUSTRALIAN FOOTBALL?
For those who don't know, Australian Rules Football is kind of like Soccer, except that you can tackle your opponent and pick the ball up with your hands. It is similar to Gaelic Football (for the Irish out there).
But please do not confuse it with Rugby.
Australian Football is NOT Rugby!!! Crows 15 - Arizona Hawks 127 Crows vs. SD Lions (home)

What's It All About?
The South Dublin Eagles? Who the hell are they? The straightforward answers like “Irelands newest Aussie Rules footie team” come easy. A nice list of squad members names would be accurate, succinct…, dull as ditchwater and as much use as a chocolate teapot. So they are an Aussie rules footie team, but what are they doing in Dublin? Did some drongo on the team bus misread the map on the way to a game in Dubbo? No, no, no, footie has been alive and well and officially living in Ireland for a couple of years in the guise of the Australian Rules Football League of Ireland – ARFLI. Apart from the obvious links between Irelands GAA and Aussie rules and the Celtic Tiger (RIP) attracting Australians away from their usual London based years OS, have you been to Bondi recently? One or two of the multitude of Irish over there was bound to pick up a liking for more than cash in hand labouring, tanned surf-chicks and cold beers, and bring it back when immigration finally caught up with them. But all that training and a few games have taught them more than that. They’ve gained more than fitness, ball skills, and slightly tanned necks and forearms. The Eagles have bonded to be the team who show up to play or train no matter what, and go home late, tired, sore and happy. Who don’t just play alongside each other but for each other. Everyone player loves to tackle, loves to score, but this is a team where a shepherd is even better because that’s their mate they are helping out. Not just their team-mate, their mate.
