    Flora Macdonald Highland Games
It has been said that one of Scotland's greatest exports has been its' people. The Cape Fear river region of North Carolina is an area that has greatly benefited from this export, in particular during the 18th, and early 19th Century.
These early immigrants had a very significant influence upon the subsequent development of southeastern North Carolina. Some of these early Scotch settlers later migrated westward, but many of their descendants continue to live nearby.
The focus of this site is on places, and events in the Cape Fear region of North Carolina that should be of interest to anyone desiring to learn more about their heritage, and wishing to expand their knowledge of Scots in North Carolina. Also, to be included in this focus will be some of the rich cultural resources these early Scotch settlers left to posterity. This site is sponsored by the
    Flora Macdonald Highland Games.

Antigonish Highland Games Info Welcome to the Antigonish Highland Games! For generations the Scottish way of life has been maintained in eastern Nova Scotia. Language, traditions, music, dances and songs of the Gael, along with feats of strength and excellence continue to flourish at the Highland Games in Antigonish. Each July, hundreds of musicians, dancers and athletes perform and compete in this grand festival. Early in the week, the town opens its doors in welcome with special church services, clan gatherings, Scottish heritage workshops and concerts. Then the games begin, with one of Canada’s finest outdoor Tattoos and the stirring Concert Under the Stars featuring pipers, dancers, fiddlers and singers. Topping it all off are the great pipe bands, highland dancing and the men of strength, testing themselves at the caber toss and heavy events. Come and join us for the oldest continuos, Highland Games in the world, outside of Scotland, running since 1863. To all we say Ciad Mile Failte, One Hundred Thousand Welcomes!
