The San Francisco Bay Area Sea Kayakers (BASK) is a club dedicated to the safe enjoyment of the sport of sea kayaking. BASK provides a forum for people to meet other paddlers, generate ideas for new trips and promote safe sea kayaking. We teach each other about bay and ocean ecology, kayaking techniques and safety; we help each other improve our sea kayaking skills; we share experiences, information on local marine conditions, warnings about hazards and unsafe procedures. One of our goals is to establish a feeling of community among Bay Area Sea Kayakers.

Tasmania Paddle around Tasmania on this site These pages contain many images digitized from sea kayaking Videos T asmania is a relatively small island state, 200km south of the rest of Australia. With a diverse coastline, ranging from drowned river valleys to sweeping sandy beaches, it is a sea kayakers' paradise. A number of off shore islands, often in strong tidal currents, make sea kayaking even more interesting. Some parts of the island are exposed to the might of the Southern Ocean and Roaring Forties winds. Other parts are relatively calm and sheltered. Tasmanian sea kayakers have developed equipment and techniques suited to paddling in exposed waters. Some of these initiatives have now spread around the world.

Who are we?
The group has been formed to meet the needs of sea kayakers based in the South East of England (Kent, Sussex and Hampshire). The ethos of SESK is one of informality. It is not a training group, it does not have a committee, there are no rules, no membership fees and a minimum of bureaucracy. SESK is an informal group of friends who kayak together. It is expected that those joining us will have previous paddling experience, i.e. at least be able to keep their 'bum in the boat'. Sea kayaking is an assumed risk sport. Trips will be arranged by members of the group who have either experience or qualification. But no liability is assumed, and you take part at your own risk. Trips may be modified to suit the prevailing weather conditions and the group's ability. Last updated 19th March 2003 Recent changes to the site Wall planner with all the 2003 trips marked is available for printing or use as a computer desktop background.

Jackie can be reached via email by sending a message addressed to jackie at the address ""@ muddypuppies followed by " .com " The address is not displayed here to avoid web harvesting by spammers... which I really hate! :-/ I hope you enjoy viewing these original ascii graphics as much as I have enjoyed creating them. All images are of my own design and no part has been borrowed from any other works. Many of the ideas for these cartoons took on life as a result of discussions on the newsgroup rec.boats.paddle, the GASP! list , the Wave~Length and PaddleWise lists and through personal experiences (yup, I really did experience three dolphins jumping out of the water at once just off the bow of my sea kayak). It is my hope that these images may generate interest in awareness of our fragile marine environment and its wildlife as well as the wonderful sport of sea kayaking. Please note, all graphics are and can only be used/reproduced with the creator's permission... and that would be me :-) If you enjoy these ascii images, you might also like to check out my ascii art page on

48 Cottage Street, Bar Harbor, Maine
abckt@prexar.com

Welcome to Coastal Kayaking Tours, the favorite choice of people who want to go sea kayaking in Maine. Why? Because of our small groups and our personalized, please-the-guest philosophy, and because we have more experience leading sea kayaking trips than anyone else in New England. Best of all, our kayaking trips are just plain fun! We paddle in ultra-stable tandem kayaks (two people to a boat), so you can virtually eliminate the possibility of tipping over.
Over 21 years, we've built our Maine sea kayaking reputation not only on our guides' expertise, but on the small group experience and camaraderie that we provide. As the industry leader, we offer a wider variety of sea kayaking trips in Maine than any other outfitter, employ an excellent staff of Registered Maine Guides and paddle the widest variety of routes on the island-studded, rock bound coast of Maine. That's why so many of our guests come back to Bar Harbor year after year to go sea kayaking with Coastal.
We have thousands of satisfied customers dating back to 1982, and we welcome both beginners and seasoned paddlers. Our guests almost always comment on our guides' expertise and friendliness, and they recognize that our knowledge of the entire Down East Maine coast is unparalleled. From Deer Isle to the Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park region all the way to the waters bordering Canada, we know all the best paddling areas. You'll come away with a new appreciation not only for sea kayaking but for the area's wildlife and natural history.

Great Lakes Sea Kayaking Association Membership News Newsletter Trip Listings ... GLSKA Book Shop The Great Lakes Sea Kayaking Association is a non-profit organization, founded in 1989, whose aim is to promote and enhance the enjoyment of coastal kayaking in the Great Lakes area. Our members come from all over Ontario with a few from farther afield. They range in age from 18 to 80, and include everyone from novices to experienced expedition paddlers. The main focus of the Great Lakes Sea Kayaking Association is paddling; and we run an active and varied programme of trips for members, including day trips, weekend camping trips and longer summer trips, appropriate for sea kayakers of all skill levels. These trips are organized and run by fellow club members on a volunteer basis. Members provide their own equipment, food and transportation. Each year GLSKA holds a Spring Rendezvous – a weekend of workshops, trips and seminars for sea kayakers, and a Fall Gathering – an informal weekend of paddling and sharing experiences. In addition, we hold skill sessions, seminars, workshops, informal slide nights, and an Annual Business Meeting. Our Georgian Bay Committee is working on the long-term preservation of the Bay as a wilderness paddling location for sea kayakers. They have installed privies at a number of Bay campsites, organize annual campsite clean-ups on the Bay, and are working on a paddlers' guide to the Bay.
