W elcome to Total Fitness For Women
T he first and only fitness facility that is dedicated to meeting the special needs of women in Southern Maryland. Total Fitness was first started by fitness professionals who have over a decade of experience in the health and fitness industry. After years of working with health clubs throughout Maryland, we are able to see that a certain part of the population did not want to be subjected to atmosphere of a coed facility. Many women want to exercise in a comfortable, relaxed, non-intimidating environment. That's what Total Fitness is all about, giving you a place to feel good and concentrate on getting in the best of shape of your life.
T otal Fitness is unlike other exercise clubs just trying to sell a lot of memberships, here you are more than just a member. The truth is, sticking with an exercise program is not always easy. Our staff of fitness professionals are here to educate, motivate and help you in achieving whatever goals or fitness needs you may have. Regardless of your fitness level.
W e will give the tools all you have to do is take the first step. Remember

88. JPFS Workouts
The weight training routine you pick should be based on your current fitness leveland goals. Below are some sample routines you can use to get you started.
http://www.jeanpaul.com/workouts.html
T N othing about the following routines is set in stone. In fact, for progress to occur, variation is essential. Be flexible when applying all routines to yourself. These are just "sample" workouts. For example, if you prefer dumbbell curls to barbell curls, then do them. The important thing to remember is that you need to vary your workouts often. That means changing things like rep speed, the order in which you do certain exercises, varying rest break time, etc. Don't forget to use strict form in all exercises. Control the weight. Don't throw it around. T o be on the safe side, if you are training with heavy weights it's always best to have a fitness professional or an experienced spotter present. A new feature of our web site is our new master trainer, Josh Davis . He will be monitoring our new message board, so if you are a fitness-pro or an exerciser with a question, you can post it and have access to answers from pros all over the world. Most importantly, if you would like a custom designed routine, put Josh's extensive background to use (degree in exercise science, certified personal trainer and certified strength and conditioning coach) and he will take all sorts of detailed info from you and write out a 6 week workout program. If you haven't clicked over to his bio yet, Josh also has five years as a corporate nutritionist. There is not much he can't do to get you on the road to fitness. Prices for these services are as follows: 6 Week weight lifting routine Order 6 Week nutrition plan

Web Site: Precision Training: Click here Fitness Specialist - Every 2nd Thursday AskMen.com Specials Pages: Today's Articles Ever been in the gym and heard someone say, "I'm taking it easy today; yesterday was my 'heavy' day"? Those words point to a plethora of misconceptions and false premises that thwart maximum muscle growth and can even lead to a loss of strength and mass. "Light" and "heavy" aren't right or wrong ways to train, however, you need to know exactly what you are trying to get out of your training in order to choose the right workout. Your body responds to exercise the same way it responds to any other stress: It adapts so that future stresses are less... well, stressful. For example, if you lie under bright sunshine today, your light skin will adapt by darkening into a tan. So tomorrow, the same amount of sunlight won't be as stressful to your body. Similarly, you make muscle-building progress by pushing your muscles to the limits of their ability, and they adapt by increasing in size and strength. Therefore, an identical workout will be less stressful the next time.

    Weight Training
Weight training, or "resistance" training, is the core of any good exercise program. It strengthens your muscles and bones and is essential to maintaining fitness. Cardiovascular exercise , although also necessary, is simply not enough. You NEED to incorporate lifting weights into your fitness program if you want to have true overall fitness. The Basics
Resistance training is not and should not be complicated. Your body works most effectively as a whole unit and you must train each part of your body, regardless of where your natural strengths and weaknesses are. For good muscle conditioning you should start with the basics, which involve working the largest muscle groups:
    • Upper Legs
    • Back
    • Chest
    • Shoulders
Training those large muscle groups will also involve using the smaller muscle groups (arms, calves, abdominals and neck), which you can concentrate on later. Take a brief look at an example Basic Weight Lifting Program involving your large muscle groups to give you an idea of how to start. You can also see a example of an Advanced Weight Lifting Program , which includes working out your smaller muscle groups as well.

"I never thought I needed to," said Shaurette, who attends an aerobics class that incorporates weights twice a week. Weight training offers a host of benefits, even for people like Shaurette who don't start until later in life. It makes bones stronger, improves posture and balance and makes daily activities easier to perform. Best of all, you don't have to pump heavy iron or spend hours in the gym to notice results. It's foreign to some But flexibility and strength training don't often receive the emphasis of cardiovascular exercise, and many seniors haven't been exposed to the benefits it provides, said Dr. Victor Hirth, medical director for the Senior Primary Care practice at South Carolina's Palmetto Health Richland. "It's fairly easy to convince them to do regular aerobic activity and daily walks," Hirth said. "But for this generation, weight training is fairly foreign, and it can be difficult to get them to do something new."
