To investigate to what extent GIS could be used to perform landscape analysis of archaeological settlement and in what way computer techniques could help to improve on the overall quality of non-systematically collected archaeological data. 2. To investigate the development of Roman settlement patterns in Spain and try to relate the observed variation to social, political and economic transformations of the Roman society. Three study areas were selected in Spain for the purposes of the research.
