Extractions: PIMA COLLEGE ANNOUNCES ARIZONA STATE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION SANCTIONED ATHLETIC COACHING CERTIFICATION PROGRAM The Pima College Fitness and Sports Sciences/Athletics Department Coaching Certification program that is approved by the Arizona State Department of Education Certification Division to meet the new State requirements for the Arizona Interscholastic Association approved Athletic Coaching Certificate. On March 9 th 2000, the Arizona Athletic Association approved new laws to allow coaches who do not have an Arizona Teaching Credential to become a Certified High School Head Coach. The requirements to obtain the State Athletic Coaching Certification include: valid certification in first aid and CPR, 250 hours of verified coaching experience in the sport to be coached and 15 semester hours in coursework from an accredited institution. All of this coursework is available through Pima College. In addition to being eligible for State Certification, a Pima College Coaching Certificate

Instruction is sequential and planned to develop and improve performance skills, to impart knowledge and concepts relevant to the activity, to introduce information concerning the fitness and health benefits of regular exercise, and to help students to develop and maintain physical fitness. These courses also provide opportunities for multicultural learning and socialization. Beginning through advanced courses are provided in many activities. Extractions: Both the School of Health and Physical Education and the Institute of Health and Sport Sciences at the University of Tsukuba originate from the National School of Gymnastics founded in 1879. Which was the oldest institute in Japan for gymnastics and physical education. The institute was combined with the Tokyo Normal School in 1885. In 1903, Tokyo Normal School was reorganized as Tokyo Higher Normal School. In 1924. The National] Institute of Health and Physical Education was founded in Tokyo and in 1941 was reorganized and developed as Tokyo College of Physical Education. After World War I[ in 1949, the Faculty of Health and Physical Education was established In Tokyo University of Education. This was the result of an amalgamation of the Tokyo Higher Normal School, the Tokyo University of Literature and Science. The Tokyo College of Physical Education and the Tokyo College of Agricultural Education. In 1960, the Institute of Sport Sciences was initiated as an addition to the Faculty. In 1973, with the establishment of the University of Tsukuba, a new system of health , physical education and sport sciences was developed on the base consolidated by reorganizations of the former Faculty and the Institute, as well as by the recruitment of new staff members.
